Eotech has done it again the EXPS by making the best even better. Offering true 2 eyes open shooting, a transversly mounted lithium 123 battery, and 7 mm raised base offering iron sight access, the new Extreme-XPS (EXPS) features easy to adjust side buttons and a single, quick release throw lever for easy attachment and removal.
The control buttons on the EXPS Series have been moved from the back to the left side for instant access, allowing a magnifier, night vision, or a back up iron sight to fit closely to the HWS body. This new button position allows the user to operate the HWS function switches easier than ever before.
EOTech’s EXPS Series is side button controls version of the XPS Series! This sight is smaller than the former N-cell battery sight (511/551) and runs on a single 123 battery. It also has a longer battery life than the N-cell style sights. Smaller, lighter and always fast with two reticle options. With the new single battery configuration, the EXPS allows more rail space than ever, leaving more room for rear iron sights or NV mount or magnifiers.
The single transverse 123 battery design reduces sight length. In fact, the shortened base only requires at most 2 ¾ inch of rail space compared 4 inches for N battery sights. The battery cap and latch are eliminated and replaced with a simple O-ring, tethered cap; thus, better sealing is achieved.
The battery compartment is now separated from the base to allow it to hover over the delta ring of the rifle. Check out these other features. Average battery life at brightness level 12 is roughly 500-600 hours, 3 times the life of N cell sights. Shorter yes but with the same size heads-up-display window our troops love. You now have two reticle options: EXPS3-2: a 65MOA circle with two 1MOA aiming dots and EXPS3-0: a 65MOA circle with one1MOA aiming dot. Take a look at the example reticle pictures above.

The EXPS Series is available in Night Vision (EXPS3) and non-Night Vision (EXPS2) versions.
In holography, all the information required to reconstruct the reticle image is recorded everywhere in the Heads-Up display window. If the window is obstructed by mud, snow, rain, etc., the HWS remains fully operational , with point of aim/impact being maintained. Even in such extreme cases where the laminated window is shattered, the HWS is fully functional! As long as the operator can see through any portion of the window, the entire reticle pattern is visible on target...the operator can still engage with confidence.
